Larry Hamilton, LMFT
Larry received his M.A. in Marriage and Family Therapy from Biola University and Rosemead Graduate School of Psychology in La Mirada, California, which is known for their integration of psychotherapeutic techniques with Scriptural principles into a Christian counseling model. He has been in private practice in Orange County for 35 years working with adults, adolescents, and children. During his internship he was instrumental in developing the children’s play therapy treatment program at the center and has been a highly regarded child therapist since 1983. He is also known for his work with parents in helping them develop parenting skills specific to their child. He has worked with several school districts including Saddleback Valley, Capistrano Valley, Irvine Unified, Tustin Unified, Newport Mesa school districts, and over a dozen private schools to help develop and implement psychological and behavioral components of Individual Education Plans that help children and adolescents reach their full potentials in school.
He works with adults in individual counseling and marriage counseling helping them assess the relational styles that prevent them from having more success in intimate relationships, in friendship development, and in being able to progress in their vocations. He is also known for his work in grief counseling. He has been sought out by small businesses and family run business as well as large companies such as Western Digital and Verizon as a counselor to teach management and employees conflict resolution skills, assessing problematic work dynamics and repairing those, and how to develop full potentials in employees. Larry and Leah have three adult children. Their own personal parenting experience has deepened their ability to understand and help parents through the stages of parenting. Larry grew up in the California Sierra foothills and loves the outdoors. He spends as much time as he can hiking, running, backpacking, fishing, biking, and loves woodworking and building. He, Leah, and their family have loved traveling to various parts of the world, which has led to a passion to help with international adoption, relief efforts for third world communities, and to provide psychological and family assistance to workers who serve internationally.
